Gunpla for Little People

Fits right into Akihiko’s little hands. When I first saw the model kit for a Keroro with mini gunpla late last year in AFA09, I knew I had to have it. It was the right size for Akihiko and not to mention Keroro will be a good crazy friend for the boy.

I just got a little more nerdier

Creating model-kits. Gundam model-kits.

At first, I was apathetic to what the hubby does whenever he browses the Gundam section of the toy store. I would be at the other end of the toy store looking for items that would fit Akihiko. But after he finished an SD version of the Gundam Leopard, I wanted to try it for my self too.

Gundam 00 was my first try (pictured above) and I was hooked! There’s a sense of accomplishment building a kit and you can customize it if you want to. It somehow brought me back to my college days, building things from scratch by hand, sanding and painting them. It’s definitely something different being away from the computer for a long while.

So now, I’ve already finished the SD of RX-93 Nu Gundam (with so many mistakes, I’ve learned so much), and already started on 1:144 scale of Freedom Gundam (whose face paint I am so very proud of). Also, 1:144 of both Over Flag andW-Gundam Zero Custom are already lined-up. And am also hoping on getting a couple of more kits before the year ends to send as gifts. I am still learning, but learning a lot.

This may be another step in my ascension (or descent, whatever) in otakudom, and my hubby is yet the one to blame. But I’m loving it.
